8. Print double sided
Get your invitation card working double duty to reduce your stationery costs by printing it double sided! For example, instead of including a details card in your invitation suite you can include all the extra information for your wedding on the back of your main invitation card. Combining your place cards and menu on the one card is also an innovative way to save money and it also makes your on the day stationery more engaging and interactive for your guests.

9. Skip the place cards
While we’re on the subject of on the day stationery, why not consider forgoing place cards. It may be more economical to use a seating chart instead if you don’t mind where your guests sit at their assigned tables. Or another good idea is to have your guests' names printed on your menus, so it's a one piece of combined stationery instead of two separate cards.
You can have your guests’ names printed on your menus in lieu of place cards. This example of the Kendra semi-custom menu with the guest’s name included on top is a great case in point!
10. Use the same stationer for all your paper goods
Find a good stationer and use them for all your before, on the day and after the day stationery. If you order all your stationery from the same business oftentimes they will offer you a discount or a package deal. Not only will you keep your costs down, your vision, paper and printing will be cohesive and consistent from your Save the Dates to your Thank You cards. 11. Choose semi-custom stationery
Talking about keeping things cohesive, opt for a semi-custom design for all your stationery. Semi-custom stationery is a pre-designed invitation suite that is personalised with your details. It’s less expensive than bespoke stationery design which is created from the ground up. Have a look at Lucky Note Design’s semi-custom collection! Each of my thirteen distinctive invitation suites includes all the paper goods you’ll require leading up to the big day as well as the wedding ceremony and reception co-ordinating stationery pieces, so your vision can be seamlessly realised. You can customise your stationery with your own ink colour, paper, card shape, printing methods and add ons. Simply pick the design you like and I’ll do the work!

12. Less is more
It's easy to get carried away with all the lovely add ons, but the cost of wax seals, envelope liners, ribbon, flying butterflies (have you seen Bridesmaids?) will creep up on you. I recommend choosing one or two embellishments that you really must have to keep costs down. You’ll be surprised by adding just one or two decorative elements can tie everything together. You don't need all the bells and whistles to make a beautiful invitation
Hot tip! Get an embossing stamp of your wedding logo or monogram. It can work double duty for you by adding embellishments to your envelopes, menus or party favour swing tags!

13. Be organised & proofread (and proofread again!)
I think this is a very important tip if you don't want to spend unnecessary money on your wedding stationery. Book your stationer early and order your stationery with time to spare, otherwise you may run the risk of paying expedited fees for design work, printing and express shipping. I can’t express strongly enough the importance of proofreading and paying attention to every little detail. Get a fresh set of eyes on your invitation design and ask your family and bridal party to proofread your stationery too! I’ve seen firsthand clients who have left things to the last minute and have had to order reprints of their stationery due to silly mistakes they overlooked in their frantic state to get their invitations mailed out in time. Don’t be a cautionary tale. Be the early bird who catches the worm (and is organised)!
